Chicago

I love Chicago for it's beautiful Architecture and Arts. One very interesting observation for me was the blending of historical landmarks with modern day architecture. The third photo was taken of a particular block of buildings where the facades of the buildings have carefully been kept in tact while the interior has been completely gutted. In my designs, I love to add interesting artifacts from the past. There is a sense of nostalgia and a respectful nod to the past when you combine the contemporary with antiques.

Recently I saw a beautiful exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago on the Japanese Kimono. The exhibit showcased traditional garments and modern interpretations as well as the process for developing the intricate design motifs. The kimono has been around for over six centuries and the traditional construction has changed very little. I loved the all of the colors and patterns. Here are a few of my favorites from the exhibition.
